Join Us for Clear the Shelters 2025 — Visit the ASPCA Adoption Center in August!

August is in full swing, and it’s officially Clear the Shelters! This monthlong pet adoption campaign helps increase adoptions across the country. The ASPCA Adoption Center in New York City is participating — stop by and celebrate with us!

This month also kicks off The Rescue Effect, our national campaign dedicated to helping more animals find loving homes. When you adopt or foster a pet, you’re freeing up space and resources for the shelter to give more animals a chance. Help one, help many — that’s The Rescue Effect. Through the end of August, the ASPCA Adoption Center will be waiving adoption fees for every animal! The Adoption Center is open daily from 12-5 p.m. for walk-in appointments.

Beginning Friday, August 8, we will hold special events during extended hours twice per week. Every Friday, from 5-6:30 p.m., attend Yappy Hour to visit our available dogs and cats, and enjoy free non-alcoholic beverages (while supplies last). On Saturdays, from 11 a.m. to noon, join us for Kittens and Coffee! Sip on free coffee (while supplies last) and meet the adorable kittens in our care.

Throughout the month, adopters will receive free supplies for their new furry companion: two weeks of dry and wet pet food, toys, treats, helpful handouts and, in some cases, behavioral support for their pet. Additionally, adopted dogs will go home with a leash and adopted cats can leave with their favorite scratch pad and hidey box!
