The TRUTH About Pit Bulls
We’re celebrating one of our favorite days of the year, National Pit Bull Awareness Day! Often misrepresented and mislabeled, pit bulls get a bad reputation, when really, they make amazing companions – just like any other dog! Here at the ASPCA, we don’t like to focus too much on breed. Instead, we think it’s all about finding the best fit for your family and remembering that every dog is an individual with their own needs and personalities, regardless of their breed.
But in honor of this paw-liday, we wanted to take some time to share some fun facts about pit bulls. You may think you know everything about these pups, but we bet you didn’t know this!
1. They’re some of the silliest dogs you’ll meet!
2. And some of the most lovable – always doling out free kisses.
3. They’re experts at giving puppy dog eyes.
4. Some love the camera and know all their greatest angles.
5. While others won’t sit still for their photo op.
6. Some pitties live by the saying “Look good, feel good,” and always look their best on their daily walks!
7. Pitties give the greatest cuddles!
8. Many are great with children!
9. And others prefer to spend their time playing with toys.
10. But most importantly, like all dogs, rescue pitties have hearts full of love and are just looking for someone to give it to!
If you’re not into loveable, playful and kiss-giving pups, then maybe these dogs aren’t for you, but we hope you’ll keep an open mind!
Not only are we celebrating National Pit Bull Awareness Day, but the entire month of October is Adopt a Shelter Dog Month! Gus is also obsessed with toys of all kinds, and he is always a happy dog when he gets to figure out a puzzle toy or enjoy a chew toy.
