In early June, at the request of the Pepin County Sheriff’s Office, we assisted with the rescue of nearly 90 dogs and puppies from a breeding operation in Wisconsin. Dogs of varying breeds and sizes, including puppies and pregnant dogs were found living in unsanitary conditions. Some of the animals had dirty hair coats and appeared to be suffering from untreated medical issues requiring immediate veterinary treatment. 

The dogs removed from the property were relocated to the ASPCA Cruelty Recovery Center (CRC) where they have been receiving medical care including spay/neuter surgeries and dental treatment as well as behavior care. 

“This population is doing well and is absolutely adorable,” says Mary Sarah Fairweather, Vice President of the CRC. “The incredible CRC placement team already found homes for 12 dogs via direct placement and our amazing colleagues on the Centralized Placement team sent ten puppies and two adult dogs to placement partners. Several of the fearful dogs will soon head to the Behavioral Rehabilitation Center in North Carolina for more treatment.”

Some of these dogs even got to participate in an extra special photo shoot to help them in their adoption journeys!
