This National Pit Bull Awareness Day, Meet Your Paw-fect Match!
Saturday, October 25 is National Pit Bull Awareness Day! Often misrepresented and mislabeled, pit bulls get a bad reputation, when really, they make amazing companions — just like any other dog! That’s why we are excited to celebrate this holiday by spreading the word about some pitties looking for loving homes in New York City. If you are looking to adopt a new furry friend, consider one of these sweet pups!
Carnegie
This kind, gentle-hearted guy can’t wait to meet you! Carnegie really loves people, especially when they take him on an outdoor adventure. Afterwards, he’ll be sure to ask for cuddles. He also enjoys playing with other dogs, and he has quite a few friends here at the ASPCA! If you have fallen head over heels for this gentle giant, visit Carnegie’s profile to learn more!
Junius
Junius is a sweet senior dog who adores making friends with both people and other dogs. He greets everyone cheerfully, and he is always looking for some affection. He still enjoys burning some energy with walks and playtime, too! If you’re ready to snuggle with Junius, check out his profile!
Brunson
This pup was born to be a star! Brunson recently marched in the Tompkins Square Halloween Dog Parade, and he had the best time! He’s the kind of dog who loves being with people and will lean in for pets and affection. He’s also a treat connoisseur, so he hopes you have some snacks for him! Ready to curl up with Brunson on the couch? Visit his profile to learn more!
Carter
Carter is social boy who is seeking a walking partner! He enjoys walks through quiet neighborhoods where he can take his time sniffing around. After a good walk, he’ll be asking for pets and scratches behind his ears. Soon enough, Carter will be snoring away by your side. This easygoing dog is eager to meet you, so head over to his profile to find out how!
If you don’t live in the tri-state area, but are still interested in celebrating National Pit Bull Awareness Day, we also have animals available for adoption in Columbus, Ohio, Asheville, North Carolina and Los Angeles (cat adoption only). You can also visit your local shelter, our friends at Animal Care Centers of NYC or the Los Angeles County’s Animal Care Centers!
If you’re currently unable to adopt, please consider becoming a foster caregiver! Animals in need greatly benefit from living in foster homes instead of a shelter environment. You can foster for the ASPCA in Columbus, Ohio, New York City, Asheville, North Carolina (dog fosters only) and Los Angeles (cat fosters only).
