Eloise

At 6 years old and about 40 pounds, Eloise is the kind of dog who greets you with full-body wiggles and happily leans in for affection! She’s friendly with just about everyone she meets and truly enjoys being close to her people. Eloise is a gentle, affectionate girl who thrives with patient people, cozy spots to relax and plenty of sniffy walks to explore at her own pace. She’s sweet, endearing and has a soft, thoughtful way about her that makes her easy to love!

In her foster home, Eloise showed off her playful, silly side! She enjoyed tossing toys up in the air and proudly trotting around with her favorites. She also loved curling up on comfy furniture, watching the world through the window and settling in at night with her chosen toy nearby. Eloise was close to fully housetrained and would signal when she needed to go out. She was also working on getting comfortable in a crate. Stairs were a little intimidating at first, but she made steady progress with support. She can be vocal at times, so she’ll do best in a howl-friendly home that appreciates a talkative hound!

Eloise gets along well with other dogs and has met both male and female dogs with relaxed, happy body language. Once she’s comfortable, she enjoys gentle chase-style play. She also looks to other dogs for confidence, especially on walks. Having another dog around can help her feel more secure in new situations.

On leash, she can pull a bit (true to her hound roots), and she may pause or balk when something feels unfamiliar. Giving her a moment to look around — or having a calm dog to follow — helps her settle in and continue on her walk.
