Meet Jade! This sweet gem-of-a-dog came to the Behavioral Rehabilitation Center from a suspected hoarding situation, where she was living with many other dogs. She initially had a fear of new people and places, which we worked on with her. She has now graduated from our program and is ready to find a home of her very own!

Jade has learned that people aren’t as scary as she once thought, and they even know her favorite pastime – belly rubs! With the help of tasty treats or a fun zoomie session in a fenced-in yard, you’ll be sure to quickly become great friends. Jade also done well with befriending other dogs, but she does best with a calm, respectful canine friend and does not prefer contact play. Slow introductions to other dogs with on-leash walks together can help build lifelong friendships!

Big fan of: Tasty treats and spending time outside! Some of Jade’s favorite activities are running around in a fenced-in yard and rolling in the grass. After getting some exercise, she loves to relax in a comfy bed. A nice pile of blankets is also appreciated, which she rolls around in and uses to create the perfect nest for a nice nap. This playful girl enjoys toys of all shapes and sizes, as well as food enrichment, such a puzzle toy or long-lasting chew toys! Once Jade is comfortable with a new friend, the way to her heart is with belly rubs or pets on her chest and neck.

Working on: Her confidence with unfamiliar people. Jade may be a bit shy at first, especially around new people or in new places, so going to a new home may be scary. The key to helping her settle in is to make sure she feels safe, happy and loved, especially in the first few weeks. Yummy treats, such as cheddar cheese, are a great way to help Jade grow more comfortable with her new friends. Jade has also shown us that she already knows the “sit” command, but she is still learning some other obedience skills. Her adopter should be ready and willing to continue providing her with reward-based training so that she can be her best doggy self!

Dream home: Jade’s dream home would have kind and patient people who will continue to show her all the fun things the world has to offer – with belly rubs along the way! She will make a great sidekick for those who enjoy going on outdoor adventures, but she also loves hanging out with her people for a quiet movie night, especially if she can have some popcorn!
