I’m Dovey and I firmly believe personal space is a myth and cuddles are the truth! I take my job as a cuddle expert very seriously. I’m sweet, affectionate and happiest when I’m close to my people — leaning in, soaking up pets or turning into a full-time bed bug. I might start off a little shy, but once I decide you’re safe and fun, I’m all wags and snuggles!

When I first came to the ASPCA Behavioral Rehabilitation Center, I was a fearful stray who wasn’t sure if the world was a very nice place. These days, I’ve learned that it can actually be pretty great. Walks are fabulous, adventures aren’t so scary and meeting people usually leads to treats and affection — which I fully support!

I like going out for walks and wandering along trails, especially when I have friends with me. Afterward, I’ll be over the moon to flop down somewhere cozy and declare the day complete. I enjoy the company of other dogs and do best with gentle, easygoing pals who like to walk or play without too much chaos.

People are my absolute favorite! I love saying hello on walks and getting attention from familiar faces. The people I know can always expect a happy wiggle or an enthusiastic spin for pets. If we don’t know each other yet, give me a minute and I’ll be right there, especially if tasty treats are involved.
