ASPCA Assists with the Emergency Transport of 41 Dogs

March 6, 2025

Last week, we assisted the Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association (KCHA) with the emergency transport of 41 dogs from the shelter in Charleston, West Virginia. The dogs were evacuated from KCHA due to historic rainfall and severe flooding in the area and transported to the ASPCA Cruelty Recovery Center (CRC) located in Columbus, Ohio. They are currently undergoing medical and behavioral evaluations and will be made available for adoption in the coming weeks, both directly through the CRC and through our shelter partners.

In addition, we helped facilitate an additional transport of six dogs from KCHA to the Humane Society of Charlotte in Charlotte, North Carolina, where they will eventually be made available for adoption.

As we continue to care for these dogs, it’s critical that we have people like you by our side. Your support ensures we can be there at a moment’s notice when disaster strikes and transport animals to safety. Please consider making an urgent gift today to help support these efforts and to help us continue our lifesaving work nationwide.
